After appliying local anaesthetic
rubber dam may be placed around the affected tooth
Rubber dam is a thin layer of rubber which isolates the tooth
keeping it dry, and protecting the mouth from medicines and tooth washes

After the measurement the canals can be cleaned and prepared to the correct tooth length

     the canals are filed with reamers and then filled with special cement              and gutta percha cones of the appropriate diameter

    the root canal filling 

                                                                                        the root canal filling fills the entire root canal

                                                                     leaving no room for air or bacteria
  

    and lastly, a temporary filling to close the cavity in the tooth crown
   preventing food packing for the first month after the root canal filling
until a permenent buildup of the tooth, usually with a screw or post
